Joe Sakic card #104 1995-96 Donruss #167

  • OK, let's play "who is in the background?".  Easy one is Dmitri Khristich of the Capitals.  The #4 for the Nordiques is a little tougher.  But assuming that the picture was taken the season before, the only #4 on the Nords was Uwe Krupp.  The goalie was easy to identify, because the same goalie played both games at home vs. the Caps.  Stephane Fiset's ice brick design is also easy to pick out.
  • Career stats for Joe vs. the Capitals weren't bad, 14 goals and 17 assists in 36 career contests.  The -17 total in those contests is the only stat that really stands out as a negative (poor pun).
  • It just so happens that career goal #104 for Sakic came against the Capitals, 3/14/1991.  It was the first of two goals for Joe in a 5-3 loss at the Capital Center.  Don Beaupre was the victim that night.
