- I will say this. I'm really happy with the new scanner. I love how this card scanned. The gold doesn't look terrible like it usually does.

- That being said, I think the red background really is a nice contrast to the Mariners blue.
- Believe it or not. This is the first card from the 2008 Topps base set to be posted on the blog.
- Market Watch: A whopping 32 copies of this card on COMC right now, priced from 65 cents to $5.25 (wishful thinking). I could see $1 for this card being very reasonable.
- Career game #40 is Ichiro's 6th straight multi hit game, a 3 for 5 performance in a 5-1 win over the White Sox. During the 6 multi hit game streak, Ichiro is 16 for 29 (.552) and has seen his season average climb from .338 to .371. Oh, and the win is the 8th straight for the M's who see their season record climb to 31-9.

- This is a very nice card; I couldn't tell you how long I've had it, but pulling it out of the binder today made me really appreciate it. The die-cut Stanley Cup is fantastic.
- Market Watch: Interesting to say the least. 3 copies total currently on COMC. 1 at $1.74, 1 at $1.89 (both reasonable, if not a bit underpriced). The 3rd is at $8.25, which compared to the other 2 is overpriced. But without a price guide listing for BAP, can't say for sure.
- Career goal #309 was scored 10/9/97 vs. the San Jose Sharks. The goal led off the game and would help the Avs to a 3-2 win, bringing their record to 4-0-1 to start the season. Mike Vernon was the victim that night.

- The Franchise indeed. Joe played for 2 decades with the Nords/Avalanche. 1378 games played for the franchise will likely stand atop their record books for decades to come.

- Career goal #308 would be scored 10/7/97 vs. the Bruins in a 3-2 home win. This would start a 7 game goal scoring streak for Joe. The goalie for Boston on this night was Lord Byron Dafoe.

- I like how this card looks, almost like a refractor, but without the refractor technology. I had no idea that there was a bronze version of this card. Guess I need it...
- Market Watch: One copy on COMC at $5.99. That's cheap, because when I bought this card many years ago I'm pretty sure I paid $15 for it (the craziness of youth). There's also one copy on ebay for $10.20.
- Career goal #305 finished off the hat trick against the Pens on 3/14/97. Joe would be goalless for the next 8 games.

- This card is serial #'d 866/975. I don't recall having shown too many serial numbered cards for Thome so far. I'm sure that I can count them on one hand.
- Surprisingly this was not added to the TCDB as of yet. Unlike my Sakic collection, adding Thome cards has been few and far between for me.
- 8 copies of this card are currently on COMC, the cheapest at $1.50 and the most expensive is $3.85. Not too bad a range in my opinion.

- Supposedly there are 100 copies of a Gold Starquest card out there of Joe Sakic. In all these years I have never seen one. Found a Chipper Jones '99 SQ gold out of 100 ebay auction, $125. Yikes.
- Three copies of this are currently on COMC. Cheapest is $1.99, most expensive is $3.70. Not bad.

- This is the middle tier of the Starquest inserts. I love the look of this card better than the other two versions because of the green.
- Still cheap: COMC has a copy of this card for just 89 cents, which is still reasonable for any Sakic insert.
- I've been trying to find the odds of pulling the green and red versions, but have had no luck. If anyone sees them anywhere online, please point them out to me.

- I don't have a whole lot of inserts that I liked over the years, but Starquest cards are one of the few that I enjoyed. Don't know why, I just do.
- The blue version is the most common, which in turn means that they are the most inexpensive. The cheapest version of this card right now on COMC is just 38 cents, which is a steal for any Sakic card.
- Bio on the back: "...Joe Sakic has earned eight selections to the NHL All-Star Game..." Finally a card that doesn't mention his shorthanded skills!

- Added this card to the TCDB tonight. This will also move me into 7th on the Joe Sakic contributor list on the site. Unofficial goal of making it to the top 5 by this summer.
- This is a really nice, but a bit bizarre looking insert for Omega. The scan actually looks better to me than the card does in hand. Usually it's the other way around.

- Nice looking card, it's good to see something that honors a part of Ichiro's game that often was overlooked, his defense.
- Bio on the back: Ichiro made only 1 error during his rookie season, winning a gold glove. That would be the first of 10 consecutive gold glove awards.
- Quite the common card: 33 copies of this card currently on COMC. Cheapest is 45 cents. Most expensive is $4. I would think somewhere in the middle is about right.
- Career game #17 see Ichiro's hit streak extended to 15 games with a 2 for 5 performance. During the streak he's hitting .400, the M's are 12-3 and had an OPS of .989. 7 of those games were also multi hit games.

- If I remember correctly, Pacific devoted an entire baseball set called Online. This appears to just be an insert set of 36 cards.
- Just looking at the TCDB, I didn't realize how many inserts/parallels that Omega has. I'm sure it will be quite a while before I see many of them in hand.

- I don't mind the crossover from the Bowman original card to the Topps Then & Now insert theme. I can't say that I've ever seen Andrew without any facial hair during his time with the Bucs.

- It's interesting what happens to some cards when they go into a scanner. This card in hand is bluish in color, and as you can plainly see it scanned green. Looks good to me though...
- Unless I find a stash of Sakic cards somewhere that I didn't know I had, this is the final 97-98 card that I have in the binder.
- Only 4 copies of this card currently on COMC. The cheaper 3 are all under $2, which isn't bad for a SP Authentic insert card. $3.65 is the higher priced card, maybe a tad expensive but not totally unreasonable.

- Already the 24th card from 2016 in my McCutchen collection. Will probably end up with at least another page of cards by the time it's done.
- It will be interesting to see what happens with Cutch this year. Have recently started seeing Gerrit Cole rumors, and if the Pirates star pitcher is traded, can Cutch be far behind?
- Currently 8 copies of this card on COMC, cheapest at 82 cents, highest price is $1. That's a pretty tight range; usually that many copies of a single card has a wider variation.

- No stats on the back, they're right on the front for you! Simple math, .352 average in his first 1000 AB's is an incredible stat, something right out of the early 20th century.
- Love how the copy of the game cards shows Ichiro's card as a stolen base. He had a few of those (87 to be exact) during his first 2 MLB seasons.
- Hit #9 was in his 3rd at bat on 4/7/01 against the Rangers Doug Davis. Ichiro would later score on a bases loaded walk to John Olerud.
- After that game, Ichiro's .417 average didn't even lead his own team, let alone the league. Edgar Martinez was hitting a sizzling .611 to start the season for the M's.

- Collectors choice was never much for inserts; 97-98 saw the normal Starquest and Crash the Game inserts along with a Stick 'um card, but this was the closest thing to a "real insert" card that CC released. Not bad.
- I like how the back talked about his gold medal at the '94 World Championships and the silver at the '91 WC. Within a decade he would add a couple of Olympic gold medals to his resume.
- The cheapest copy of this card right now on COMC is actually a penny cheaper than the cheapest base card. All the other inserts are priced more than a dollar, while this is listed at 55 cents.

- Part of a very large (for Upper Deck) 60 card insert set. Most of the big name stars are there, even some 2nd tier stars such as Ziggy Palffy and Ed Jovanoski are part of the set.
- I was very surprised to see that this wasn't submitted to the TCDB as of yet. As usual, I took care of that.
- Career goal #268 came on 2/3/96 vs. the Rangers. It was one of 2 goals on the night for Joe as the Avs handled the Broadway Blueshirts 7-1. Glenn Healy was the victim that night for both goals.

- Part of the monthly card show, I paid a buck for this one. If there's any uniform I'd like to see less of, it's the road grays.
- Interesting that the back of the card only shows the previous 2 seasons worth of stats. The back also talks about how Lefty Gomez was the first and only pitcher to win the All-Star Game for a 3rd time. That was in 1937.
- Career homer # 104 was the first of the 2014 season for Andrew, hit on April 17th against Yovani Gallardo of the Brewers. It was a 2 run shot in the bottom of the 1st, hit after the Brewers scored 1 in the top of the inning. The Bucs would go on to throttle the Brewers 11-2, behind 7 strong innings from Edinson Volquez.
