- Part of a very large (for Upper Deck) 60 card insert set. Most of the big name stars are there, even some 2nd tier stars such as Ziggy Palffy and Ed Jovanoski are part of the set.
- I was very surprised to see that this wasn't submitted to the TCDB as of yet. As usual, I took care of that.
- Career goal #268 came on 2/3/96 vs. the Rangers. It was one of 2 goals on the night for Joe as the Avs handled the Broadway Blueshirts 7-1. Glenn Healy was the victim that night for both goals.

Joe Sakic card #245 1997-98 Upper Deck 3-star selects #T3A
- Part of a 60 card insert set, Sakic was the first part of a group of three that included Steve Yzerman and Paul Kariya. Helluva trio to say the least.
- Amazingly this card wasn't scanned to the Trading Card Database. That has been taken care of.
- I hadn't noticed until this evening the die cut of the middle star on the right hand side of the card. As I've said many times before, it's time to pay more attention to my cards.
- Surprisingly a cheap card on COMC, the 15 copies of this card on there range from 65 cents to $1.25. Cheap!

Joe Sakic card #219 1997-98 Upper Deck #253
- Love this design. Nothing flashy, solid photography as always by Upper Deck. Horizontal layout I believe helps the card.
- Seeing the "Sakic enjoys a record night against the Oilers" on the front made the stat geek in me look up that night. 6 points, 1 goal and 5 assists with a +4 rating. The only Avs goal that Joe wasn't a part of that night was the final one as the Oilers were blown out 7-2 in the old McNichols Sports Arena in Denver.
- Saw the numbers "950" on the boards in the background, figured it was an AM radio station. Sure enough it's KKSE, Altitude Sports Radio in Denver. With the way that radio stations change formats, it's pretty cool to see that the same radio station is still broadcasting Avalanche games 20 years later.

Joe Sakic card #210 1997-98 Upper Deck McDonald's #McD5
- These cards were a great reason to hit McDonald's in Canada during the 96-97 season. It got really tough to find packs of these quickly.
- I never noticed until now that the "ice" logo in the upper left was actually an Upper Deck hologram.
- Bio on the back: "Joe Sakic won the Conn Smythe trophy in 1996." That sums the previous season in one short line, doesn't it?
