- Jim Thome, first ballot Hall of Famer. Has a nice ring to it.
- This is part of a 130 card set, which also features 2 of the other 3 HOFers from this year's class. Trevor Hoffman is the only one who doesn't have a card in this set.
- Career homer #273 was the 40th of the 2001 season for Jim. Joe Mays of the Twins was the victim of a 2 run shot that put the Tribe ahead 5-0. Cleveland would end up winning 8-2, making a winner of Chuck Finley.

I'm thrilled that he made it on the first ballot. He was so underrated both during his career and still today. It's funny, I was just looking through old facebook profile pics and I used one of him a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHe was a solid player for most of his career, but never got the pub that a lot of the stars did.
DeleteThen 400 HR and 500 HR came and his name finally started to get a lot more mention as a premier home run hitter.
I was a little surprised that he didn't hit 90% of the vote, but hey 1st ballot HOF is a great accomplishment none the less.
