- As I mentioned, here and there I'll be getting into the $1+ cards of Sakic. This card set me back $1.24 (the horror), but it's one step closer to finishing off the Nordiques cards of Joe that I need, which is still too many.
- I was surprised that this wasn't added to the Trading Card Database. As is the norm, I took care of that little chore.
- Career goal #261 came on 1/4/96 in a game against the Flyers that ended in a 2-2 tie. Garth Snow was the victim that night.

- This would be the prelude to the SP sets that Upper Deck would release starting later in the 94-95 season.
- For me, it is going to be difficult to not like a Felix Potvin game action photo. This card is no different. Just from the stripes on the right hand side of the card it appears that the Leafs were in St. Louis when this photo was taken.
- Potvin is one collection I'd really like to grow, and quickly. A lot of his rarer base cards are at a dollar or more. This card on COMC is somewhat cheap right now at 65 cents. Any goalie collector knows that their cards can get expensive. Especially the jersey/auto cards...

- One of the best hockey cards I've ever seen. Would love to know who came up with the idea because I'd like to pat him/her on the back for a job well done.
- The card is certainly indicative of the amount of rubber that Felix saw during the 93-94 season; he appeared in 66 games and faced 2010 shots. Felix and the Leafs would go to the 3rd round of the playoffs that year, facing another 510 SOG.
- It was cool to see Felix in the alumni game before the Centennial Classic, sharing the #29 with another of my favorite Leaf goalies, Mike Palmateer.

- I always enjoyed pulling the predictor cards from packs. Joe Sakic unfortunately didn't win the Art Ross trophy in 94-95, as Eric Lindros and Jaromir Jagr tied for the league lead in points with 70. Joe finished the season with 62 points (remember it was the strike shortened season).
- Love that the blue border matches up really well with the blue in the Nordiques uniform.
- Insanity on the back: When redeeming winning predictor cards, Canadians had to answer this skill testing question within 3 minutes: 9+7+3. Think you can manage??

- This is where my condition known as "parallelitis" came into being. I managed to pull a lot of these from packs back in the mid 90's, and I still have a want list for these to this day. Still a long way to go because...
- The multiplier on the Electric Ice cards is still an incredible 20x! So for a 60 cent card such as Sakic, the EI version goes for $12. The Gretzky's run $2 for the base, so multiply that by 20 and you see why there's a large want list for those cards...
- You'll see why Upper Deck scrapped the Electric Ice parallels when I show the 95-96 version in a few weeks.

- 94-95 Upper Deck will always be one of my all time favorite hockey sets. It will also be one of my biggest banes as well, as the set introduced me to the wonderful world of parallels. The Electric Ice version of this card is the next Sakic post, and I'll expand a little more on this point then.
- Love this photo! Look down by the stick blade, and work your way up the card. you will see the bits of ice in the air, which on a hockey card is absolutely fantastic.
- Maybe it was to get all the rookies in the set, but the only thing weird about the 94-95 UD set is the breakdown. 270 cards in the first series, 300 in the second. Might have made more sense to even each series, but what do I know?
- Even though there were a lot of RC's in the 2nd series, there aren't any that truly stand out. The Ryan Smyth is still the priciest at $2, but using the word "priciest" might be pushing it a bit.

- Now that the insanity of a move is largely done with, I can get back into the swing of things on this blog as well. Unfortunately I didn't post far enough in advance, and the 2 day gap is the largest so far on this blog. And hopefully the last.
- It's amazing how much a scan can point out all the flaws on the surface of a foil based card. Look at the dots and spots. If they were all numbered we could play connect the dots...
- This card was part of a 180 card insert set from UD that year. The Sakic runs for $3, and the most expensive card listed is the Gretzky (of course) which still has $10. There are currently 21 copies of this card on COMC, ranging in price from $2.24 down to $0.82.
