- One of the best scans of a card that I can remember in quite a while. I like how the foil background in behind Thome scanned more a blue than the silver it actually is on the card.
- I never really knew what to make of these "see-through" cards, similar to the Upper Deck Ice brand. They feel kind of weird...
- Career home run #153 was hit 6/25/98. It was the first of 2 homers that day off of St. Louis pitching. This victim was Manny Aybar, a 2 run shot in the 5th inning that would give the Indians the lead for good that day. Jim would later hit a solo shot in the 4 run 8th inning to help the Indians win 8-2 over the Cardinals. In case you were wondering, Mark McGwire also hit a homer in that game, his 35th(!) of the season.

- I don't know whether to praise this card for being so inventive or to pan it for being so damn difficult to store. Let's just say it's not my favorite card in the Jim Thome collection.
- Bio on the back: "First base seemed to agree with this Cleveland clout machine." It goes on to say that his HR:AB ratio was 1:12.4. 600 AB's, close to 50 HR's, I'd take that every year...
- Jim finished the 1997 season hitting his last 4 homers off the White Sox, including 2 off of Doug Drabek. Career HR #132 was hit 9/12/97, broke a scoreless tie and propelled the Indians to a 9-0 whitewash.
