- I remember trying to protect the coating off of a Finest card one day. Wound up actually tearing the card in two. Haven't tried it since.
- Career home run #82 for Jim was his first career grand slam, hit off of Detroit's Gregg Olson. It was Jim's 2nd homer of the game and his 5 RBI's led Cleveland to a 11-3 win on 8/18/96.
- It is remarkable that the Gold Finest cards have held their value over 20 years. Ripken ($40), McGwire and Bonds ($30) and Griffey ($25) all have remained solid over time. I don't remember what I paid for the Thome, but it lists for $1.25.
